Today I was signing up for the teleseminars provided by RESOLVE and read the following: "October 15. IVM, wih Jared Robbins, MD, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility, Womens & Infants Hospital". I had never heard of IVM so I went and looked it up online.
"Its main advantage is that it allows a short treatment cycle (3 days of medications) after which the immature ova are obtained. This significantly reduces (or perhaps completely eliminates) the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).The article specifically mentions women with polycystic ovarian syndrome as good candidates for IVM", because women with PCOS are at higher risk for ovarian hyperstimulation.

Is this the same thing as micro-IVF?
ReplyDeleteI don't think so. I think micro-IVF is adjustment before the eggs are retrieved, while IVM is afterwards. This website gives detailed information... http://www.infertilitysolutions.com/miniStimIVFoptions.html
