Dog Park Fun

This past week was pretty fun...

Jeri & I took Kate to THREE different dog parks. We first went out to Gahanna's Dog Park. They have 4+ acres and an agility course. We were most interested in trying Kate out in the agility course because she did so well with them during our training at the Humane Society. However, she wasn't so into doing them... definitely WAY more interested in playing with the other dogs.

We also took her to Dublin's Dog Park. Didn't know Dublin had a dog park?? Well, it seems that NO ONE else does either!! There wasn't a single person... or dog, in sight! Needless to say, we didn't stay very long.

Sunday we took Kate to Alum Creek's Dog Park & Beach... AMAZING!!! The park area is very large (4+ acres) and she played there for a long time with the other dogs. Then we walked over to the beach area which is right next to the dry areas. There were lots of dogs of all sizes playing in and around the water. We didn't think she would go in because so far at home she has been terrified of the water. She was playing with this group of dogs who were chasing each other and her all over the beach dry area when a couple of them just dove into the water... Kate didn't seem to know what to do, but after a couple more times of the dogs jumping in she followed them! We couldn't believe it! After she went in it seemed like it was no longer a big deal to her and she went in quite a few more times on her own... even to swim. It was a pretty exciting day for her & for us! We've decided to make dog parks our "church" and go every Sunday with Kate.

Any interest in going to the dog parks with us, just leave a comment!

  1. That sounds like so much fun...unfortunately I don't think Rocco & DeeDee would handle dog parks very well. They're scared of dogs that are bigger than them, and well, that's pretty much all dogs! Maybe we'll get my parent's big lab sometime and take her with you guys.
