"Christmas" Dog Treats

This year we decided to not buy something for our dog Kate for Christmas.  We instead decided to give her some old stuffed animals we had kept hidden for such an occasion, and also give her some HOMEMADE DOG TREATS.  I'm pretty excited about these.  I think she'll like them!

I took the idea from this website, then adjusted it to suit what I thought Kate would like.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups 100% organic whole wheat flour
  • Peas pureed baby food (3 Gerber step 2 and 1 step 1)
  • 1 C grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 C baked chicken breast (plain) - I used leftovers from our dinner the other night
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley
Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Mix together to form a stiff dough. If necessary, add extra flour or water as needed.
3. Knead dough to form a ball, then smoosh on a flat surface until about a 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into desired shape or a pizza cutter to make cubes.
4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and place treats about 1/2 inch apart. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes.  Allow to cool completely before storing or feeding to dog.

UPDATE:
Kate is OBSESSED with these treats!!  She will do almost ANYTHING to get one!  Even roll over, which has been a struggle to get her to do lately.  Wahoo for a great recipe!
